After reading my various cocktail recipe books, I kept coming across Sloe Gin and realized it was not part of my bar cabinet and wondered why since it appeared easy to combine with a variety of alcohol. My first foray into Sloe Gin was the classic and aptly named Sloe Gin Fizz.
The following recipe was adapted from the bottle of the Hiram Walker Sloe Gin that I bought, and when I say “adapted,” I mean more alcohol was added.
1 1/2 parts dry London Gin (I use Beefeater)
1 part Sloe Gin
1 part fresh squeezed lemon juice
1 part simple syrup
3-5 parts soda water depending on the size of your glass and desired level of dilution (Fever Tree soda water is especially good if you want to splurge)
Lemon wheel for garnish
Collins or Highball Glass
Place all ingredients, except for the soda water, in a glass with an ample amount of ice and stir. Top with soda water, garnish with the lemon, serve and wait for your guest to compliment you profusely.
